What is Beit Shalom?

Beit Shalom is a Hebraic congregation. We use the term "Hebraic" because it connotes an intimate connection with the Hebrew roots of the Scriptures and our Messiah. "Hebraic" also expresses our general way of thinking and approach to Biblical life (relationship, action, i.e. how we relate and respond to things) in contrast to the western or "Greek," philosophical mind-set (intellectual, doctrinal, i.e. what we think and believe about things) that often characterizes many present-day Jewish and Christian world-views.

While our congregation is a direct result of the Hebrew Roots movement, Beit Shalom is different from other Messianic congregations in a number of ways. Messianic Judaism is most often focused primarily on evangelism of and ministry to Jewish people by Jewish people. Non-Jewish participants in the Messianic Jewish movement play a secondary, supportive role. While we do share many things in common with other Messianic congregations, the primary goal of Beit Shalom is to see all of God's redeemed (Jewish and non-Jewish alike) "living holy and godly lives" (2 Peter 3:11) according to the whole of Scripture. Proclaiming the Good News of Yeshua, making disciples, or any other important work for the Kingdom are natural byproducts of a Biblical, Spirit-led lifestyle in the Messiah.
